“Zerts” are what I call desserts. “Trée-trées” are entrées. I call sandwiches “sammies,” “sandoozles,” or “Adam Sandlers” … Fried chicken is “fry-fry chicky-chick.” Chicken parm is “chicky-chicky-parm-parm.” Chicken cacciatore? “Chicky-cacc.” — Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), Parks and Recreation

FAST from takeout and fast food today — prepare at least one meal with fresh fruits and vegetables. And don’t forget: NO MEAT today (including fry-fry chicky-chick).

PRAY for restaurant workers and take-out delivery people today.

GIVE the money you would have spent eating takeout and fast food to Feeding America or to a local food pantry.

After Lent, tune in to BustedHalo.com every day for our Daily Jolts and MicroChallenges!

I read this after I had already ordered my take out lunch. It is my office’s tradition to eat a take out lunch together on Fridays. I am assuaging my guilt by praying for restaurant workers as you suggest. We always buy from locally owned places, so we are supporting our neighbors.

Tom Haverford is an interesting character from Parks and Recreation, and it is amazing how you spun his self absorbed character into a Lenten observance. Thank you for the daily dose of FPG. I was planning to have sushi Friday, but you have removed my desire to be selfish and diverted my heart to give to the poor instead. The Holy Spirit is moving. Thank you for the Friday plan of action.
