Thanks for a down to earth review of a little nun reality. My own Benedictine community has recently started a blog with bits of everyday nun life. Check it out at www.ferdinandbenedictines.blogspot.com.

Great article highlighting the life and work of Catholic sisters and nuns. For more stories about real nuns every day, please visit my blog, ANunsLife.org ... which makes me wonder where the title of this article came from! :)

Sister Helen Prejean is as cool in real life as she is portrayed in the book/movie.

For the record and to offer another generalization, nuns are generally the most kick-@ss women I know.

Women religious in the United States have done so much more for the church than we are often thankful for. In my own life a wonderful Ursuline Sister served as a spiritual director for me in college and my life has been vastly changed because of her. Far from wacky these women's lives of simplicity, prayer and simply hard work are some of the best examples of what Catholicism has to offer.

And how do we often remember them? With rulers and hippy guitars! Shameful! Now go call a nun who made a difference in your life.
