Not knowing Ms. temple-Raston personally, but being aware of her education, I have to say that if anyone could learn Arabic quickly she has some powerful credentials. After all, English is her SECOND language, after French (and maybe Flemish?) and she has a degree in Chinese. She’s obviously a high-achiever and a profiecient linguist, so while her Arabic might not be perfect, I’m betting she could order lunch pretty well with it.

Please, you’re giving Ms. Temple-Raston far too much super-humanness. It takes YEARS, YEARS to master Arabic-that is why it’s rated at the highest level of difficulty by professional language associations. Study your MA-write a thesis and many other papers, go to class AND write 2 books AND work, maybe but sounds too good to be true. As the journalist here, you ought to have put a little more into ensuring you presented a “real” story about a “real” person. Seems you have just fallen victim to a savier media professional who is currently making the promotional rounds to sell her book.
