At a Tuesday night dinner with a Jewish friend who belongs to a Baltimroe Havurah and an Episcopalian friend, we talked a lot about Yom Kippur. Thank you, Rabbi Karz-Wagman, for this beautiful teaching.

I'll often emphasize, as you, the importance of reciprocity in our realtionships. And as you indicate, our I-Thou relationships, as described by Martin Buber, reach out beyond our immediate partner into the community and ultimately to the Eternal Thou. I appreciate your observation and discuss this point in my book, God in Our Relationships.

My husband and I are both young professionals and have only been married 3 months. In an effort to build our marriage we have been talking about the purpose of marriage -- and while children, and growing up, and sacraments are compelling, the M in your MORAL there helps me complete the picture. The higher values (of which sacraments are one), which we had not yet discussed.
