Photos: Vespers with the Pope

Pope Francis arrived in New York City yesterday afternoon, and Busted Halo was on hand to welcome the pontiff to the city we call home! We continued our pope week experience with a visit to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, where Pope Francis led Vespers, otherwise known as evening prayer. Enjoy some of the behind-the-scenes photos of this beautiful event.

Pope Francis offered loving words directed to the many religious women in attendance. “In a special way I would like to express my esteem and gratitude to the religious women of the United States. What would the Church be without you? Women of strength, fighters, with that spirit of courage which puts you in the front lines in the proclamation of the Gospel. To you, religious women, sisters and mothers of this people, I wish to say “thank you”, a big thank you… and to tell you that I love you very much.
