Actually, while it's possible that *some* respondents didn't understand "pleasing disposition", it's also possible that it's another reaction to difficult financial times.

I have found that the worse off the economy is, the more that being "nice" is seen as the "looser" position from a female perspective, generally considered at odds with a "Type-A" personality. In other words, the nice guy finishes last in the financial sphere, at least as far as women are concerned.

Not only that, but 'bad boys' are a perennial favorite in the dating scene, only now we don't have social pressures that discourage this choice.

Sadly, even intelligent women are more willing to follow their desires more than sense when it comes to marriageable men. They always go for what, um, turns them on, rather than what they can live with for the long term. This, frankly, is why I think that the divorce rates are so high.

Most women don't even know what it is they *can* live with in a relationship sense. It drives me to distraction. I have many female friends who come to me for relationship advice, asking me (in their 40's) why they aren't married yet.

I give my advice, but they will never follow it because what I have to say is so... dated.

Gee, I wonder why women used to follow this age-old advice! Maybe because it worked!

Perhaps that old double standard is no longer in play, but why should women's chastity be more important than mens? Besides, I always found it a difficult concept to bear that the woman had to be a virgin but the man shouldn't be...what if the woman had been raped? what if the man had aquired an STD? It feels like a burden as a woman to be judged worthy based on whether or not I had or had not had sex.

The one that really suprises me is the financial thing. I had always thought a man's financial status was less important back-then as compared to nowdays

Wow, interesting. Seems like these are largely determined by how people interp the words of the category- especially "chastity" - which most people probably think of as prudishness and lack of mOjO
