I do not drink the blood/wine. But I step up and receive the cup. I hold the chalice up at eye level and take a moment to receive the challenge of living as Christ wants me to. So I feel I receive the sacrament but I am not drinking the wine. As coordinator of the altar servers at my parish I give them this option if they do not want to drink the wine. I find it a special moment where I “take on the cup of Christ”. In doing this when I say, “Amen”, I focus on the literal and spiritual the weight of the Chalice in my hands.
