I actually disagree with the answer given. Doesn’t Jesus tell us in the Gospel on Ash Wednesday that we should not outwardly display the fact of what we are practicing or fasting. Jesus tells us to do so in secret. I feel like wearing them completely contradicts this message. I wipe them off after Mass every year.
