Think it was my former pastor who once said it’s the person who has been away that is more welcomed than those who come every weekend. They are the Prodigal Son returning home. I now tell people of any faith when they joke about the roof caving in if they walked in the door that they are the ones God smiles down upon. The lost sheep finding its way home. What you said about the Catholic not reaching to shake your hand to maybe welcome you back, hit home. I see it in my own parish and am saddened. They are not the Church teachings and, in my opinion, not being a true Catholic or Christian. We’ve all been prejudice at one time or another and have committed many sins whether venial or mortal but we are still made in God’s image. When people snub/turn away from you, say a prayer for them that their hearts soften and change their ways. I for one want to say Welcome Back Home. I would be the first to shake your hand and show you to a pew.
