We get this question quite often, particularly by newer listeners. They hear the show announcer say, “Here’s your host, Paulist Father Dave Dwyer” – and they freak out! They think he says, “Paula’s father”! Rest not, Father Dave is not the father of anyone named Paula, but he is indeed a Paulist. In this clip, he explain to a listener exactly what it means to be in the Paulist order of priests. (Originally aired: 02/18/10. The Busted Halo Show with Father Dave Dwyer is on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio, Sirius 159, and XM 117, Monday through Friday, 7:00pm to 10:00pm EST. Give us a call with your questions and comments: 1-888-3-CATHOLIC, or at bustedhalo@thecatholicchannel.org. Go to www.sirius.com to get subscription information.)

Every time I heard “Paula’s Father” Dave Dwyer, it didn’t sink in. Then one day, as I was listening to the commercial for the Busted Halo Show, it did. I thought to myself how can that be? Then I heard another radio spot explaining how the Paulist priest started. Didn’t think anything about it until I heard the commerical for the Busted Halo Show again. It all made sense then, I got a big laugh at myself that day. And everytime I hear the commercial I usually chuckle to myself.
