Guest: Brother Guy Consolmagno

Just this past May, Pope Francis asked: “Imagine if a Martian showed up, all big ears and big nose like a child’s drawing, and he asked to be baptized. How would you react?” Hmmm. Can’t say I had thought of that, Holy Father. But our guest has! Jesuit Brother Guy Consolmagno has been a lecturer at Harvard University and MIT; has served in the US Peace Corps teaching physics at the University of Nairobi; and was a physics professor at Lafayette College in Pennsylvania, before entering the Jesuits in 1989. An astronomer and curator at the Vatican Observatory for more than 20 years, Brother Guy was awarded the 2014 Carl Sagan Medal for outstanding communication by an active planetary scientist by the American Astronomical Society. With us in-studio now to talk about his new book Would You Baptize an Extraterrestrial? And Other Questions from the Astronomer’s Inbox at The Vatican Observatory, is Brother Guy Consolmagno!
