Well Richard, we know that “bad” things happen to all of us at one point or another in our life. Many times, those bad things can be part of our experience of learning to grow as human beings, and may help us to become stronger phisically, emotionally, spiritually, etc. My thought is that a better prayer would be to ask God to let us feel his presence in us and be with us when those things happen, so that we may walk through those dark places confident that we will eventually be o.k. because God is with us. I hope this is helpful. Blessings.

If the bible is clear regarding life on earth not being perfect (bad things happen to good people) why pray to god that bad things don’t happen to us? If he cannot prevent, how does prayer get results? Appreciate an answer.
