The wording doesn&#039;t make much of a difference, in my opinion.  A civil union or a same same-sex marriage is the celebration of a union that is inherently sinful.  Your presence at either could be interpreted as your approving of such actions, which is why I would be uncomfortable attending one.  However, there are personal considerations to such issues, so the Church wisely does not make explicit rules on things like this, from what I can tell, and people can disagree in good will.

In either case, never stop loving or praying for the couple.</description>
