Official Rules

1. Eligibility


The BustedHalo.com’s® “Don’t Forget Your Halo 2010 Summer Photo Contest” (the “Contest” or “Giveaway”) is open to individuals who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. Employees and agents of BustedHalo.com or Paulist Young Adult Ministries and any entity involved in the sponsoring, development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the prize giveaway, and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household as such individuals, are not eligible to enter or win.

2. How To Enter

No purchase necessary. From Memorial Day (May 31, 2010) to Labor Day (September 6, 2010) entrants are encouraged to submit electronic photographs of subjects holding the Busted Halo over their heads (Halos can either be downloaded from the bustedhalo.com site, or created by the contestants.) Entrants must email their photos and shipping addresses to photocontest@bustedhalo.com, or upload their photos to the Busted Halo Facebook fan page (addresses will NOT be shared, sold or given to any third parties). Busted Halo will then publish online the photos received during each week of the contest. Contestants are not limited to the number of photos they can submit, however, Busted Halo reserves the right NOT to publish multiple photos from the same entrant or any photos deemed inappropriate by the editors. These decisions are at the sole discretion of the editors and they are final.

Timelines and deadlines for submitting photos for the weekly contest are Mondays 12:00am to the following Sunday at 11:59pm (all times are Eastern Standard). The weekly photos will be published online as they are sent in following editorial review for issues of appropriateness or duplication as listed in above paragraph and will accumulate as part of that week’s photo entries. Reader voting will begin for each week’s photos on Mondays at 12:00am and will continue for 9 days to the following Wednesday at 12:00am in order to give last minute photo entries enough time for reader voting. No responsibility is assumed by BustedHalo.com for lost, late, or misdirected entries or any computer, online telephone, or technical malfunctions that may occur. All photo entries become the property of BustedHalo.com and will not be returned.

3. Reader Voting/Winner Selection


There are three different prize levels in this year’s Giveaway: Best Weekly Photo, Final Category Winners, and a Grand Prize.

  1. Best Weekly photo A prize of a custom Busted Halo backpack will be awarded each week to the photo (from among ALL eligible entries received for that particular week) receiving the most votes from online viewers based on the timelines/deadlines above. (For instance, Week 1 of the contest is from Monday, May 31, 2010 – Sunday June 6, 2010, and online voting for this week will last from Monday, May 31, 2010 – Wednesday June 8, 2010.) Weekly Winners are awarded based on TOTAL number of online votes received for the photos eligible that week, however, Busted Halo reserves final right of selecting winners for prizes in instances of voting system malfunctions or if the system has been hacked or otherwise compromised. These decisions are at the sole discretion of the editors and they are final. Each daily photo entry will be eligible to win one of the Final 12 or more categories (listed below.)

  2. Final Category Winners There will be at least 12 Final Category winners selected by Busted Halo at the conclusion of the contest for the following categories (Busted Halo reserves the right to award “special” categories based on submissions that the editors deem worthy. These decisions are at the sole discretion of the editors and they are final.)

    1. Most Remote or Exotic Destination with a Halo

    2. Most Interesting Sacred Space to have a Halo

    3. Highest Elevated Halo

    4. Best Underwater Halo

    5. Most Traveled Halo

    6. Most Daring Halo

    7. Best Celebrity with a Halo

    8. Halo Babies: Best Baby with a Halo

    9. Busted Buddies: Best Pet with a Halo

    10. Best Sneak-Attack Photo

    11. Largest Number of Halos in one photo

    12. Most Creative Homemade Busted Halo

    ALL ENTRIES ACCUMULATED DURING THE SUMMER WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE EDITORIAL VOTING PROCESS FOR THE 12 OR MORE CATEGORY WINNERS/PRIZES.

  3. Grand Prize customized Flip Video Camera as part of a Busted Halo Backpack assortment containing a branded backpack with a Flip Video Camera, candy, and an assortment of books from our Halo store will be awarded following the GRAND PRIZE voting week that begins the day after Labor Day (September 7th) at 12:01am. The Grand Prize winner will be determined during the week following Labor Day by readers voting for their favorite picture among the list of WEEKLY WINNERS. All previous votes for WEEKLY WINNERS will not count toward the GRAND PRIZE. Each WEEKLY WINNER will start again at zero votes during the week following Labor Day. The photo that gets the most votes during that final week after Labor Day will win the GRAND PRIZE.

The Best Weekly, Category and Grand Prize selections will be conducted under the supervision of the Publisher of BustedHalo.com, whose decision is final. The Grand Prize Winner will be awarded customized Flip Video Camera as part of a Busted Halo Backpack filled with candy and an assortment of books from our Halo store. Best Weekly Photo prizes include a Busted Halo backpack. Chance of winning Best Weekly Photo prizes depends on the number of online votes received per individual photo. Prizes are not redeemable for cash. Limit one (1) prize per person, per week. No substitution, transfer, or assignment of prize permitted, except that BustedHalo.com reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event an offered prize is unavailable. Taxes on the prizes are solely the responsibility of the winner.

4. Contest Photos

All photo entries must be submitted with the approval of the subjects and persons in the photos. Only valid authentic photos will be accepted. Photoshopped, altered or manipulated photos will not be eligible for voting or prize giveaways. Busted Halo reserves the right on final approval of photo submissions.

5. General Conditions

Prize giveaway entrants agree to abide by the terms of these official rules and by the decisions of the Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this prize giveaway. This prize giveaway is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Winners will be notified via their provided e-mail address within seven (7) days after the drawing date. Failure to respond to notification of victory within four (4) days or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants further grant to BustedHalo.com the right to use and publish their proper name and state online and in print in any other media in connection with the prize giveaway. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for BustedHalo.com to use winner’s names and likenesses for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com, their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this prize giveaway or any prize won.

6. Internet

If for any reason the Internet portion of the program is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of BustedHalo.com which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this prize giveaway, BustedHalo.com reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the prize giveaway. BustedHalo.com assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. BustedHalo.com is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by BustedHalo.com on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this prize giveaway. CAUTION: any attempt by a entrant to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the prize giveaway or voting is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Paulist Young Adult Ministries and BustedHalo.com reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law. Entries made by Internet will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated.
