We are pleased to have as our special guest tonight on this Faith-in-Culture Thursday, the real-life inspiration of the classic sports movie, Rudy – Mr. Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger! The true tale is the story of how 5’6” local football player was able to defy all the odds and shock the nation by making the Notre Dame football team and being the first and one of only two people ever to be carried off the storied Notre Dame football field! While Mr. Ruettiger is best known as being the subject of the now-legendary film starring Sean Astin, he is also a motivational speaker and co-founder of the Rudy Foundation which created the Rudy Awards that benefit children’s advocacy programs, and the College Football and High School Rudy Awards which honors football players who demonstrate what Mr. Ruettiger refers to as “The Four C’s”: character, courage, contribution and commitment as a member of their team. With us this evening to talk about his life before, during, and since his infamous time on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team is Mr. Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger!
