Busted Halo respects your right to privacy and is committed to protecting the data that you choose to share with us. The following policy details what data we collect, how we use the data that you provide, how we securely store your data, and what you can do if you have questions or concerns regarding your data.

The policies described on this page will be maintained and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that your data is safe, and we will make every effort to notify you when any of our policies change.

Who are we?

We are Busted Halo, a ministry of the Paulist Fathers. While we primarily operate online at bustedhalo.com, we also operate the following websites:

What data do we collect?

When you visit one of our sites, we may collect data from you. At times, and always with your consent, the data we collect may contain personally identifiable information, such as your name, your email address, or other information that may identify you specifically. This personal data is maintained with the highest regard to your privacy and security, and will only be used in the manner specified when you submit the data to us. We will make every effort to comply with the principles of the Federal Trade Commission Act and related regulations, the General Data Protection Regulation, and applicable local privacy laws with regard to your personal data.

We do not intentionally collect personal data from anyone under the age of eighteen (18), and we will permanently delete any data that we believe to be submitted by anyone under eighteen (18).

Beginning May 25, 2018, we will explicitly ask for your consent to collect any personally identifiable information prior to submission, and we will outline exactly how that data is to be used. You will not be allowed to submit personal data, and we will not collect personal data, without checking a box or otherwise indicating that your data is being collected and that you agree to the limited use of your data as outlined on each individual form.

Contact Forms

When you submit an entry using the contact form (“Contact Us”) on any of our sites, we will collect your name, your email address, and any information that you choose to share in your message to us. This information will only be used to respond as necessary to your immediate inquiry.

Advertising Inquiries

When you submit an entry using the advertising inquiry form (“Advertise With Us”) on any of our sites, we will collect your name, your email address, your phone number, and any information that you choose to share in your message to us. This information will only be used to respond as necessary to your advertising inquiry.

Donation and Payment Information

In order to facilitate your donation to Busted Halo or your purchase of Young Adult Ministry in a Box, we may require additional information, detailed below, in order to process your payment or to provide you with items relating to your donation or purchase, like thank you gifts, email subscriptions, or documentation for tax deductions (as applicable).

One-Time Donations

When making a one-time donation through Busted Halo, we collect your name, your email address, your phone number, your mailing address, and your credit card information. This information is used solely for the purposes of processing your donation payment and supplying you with any of the optional benefits of becoming a donor, such as mailing you a thank you gift, subscribing to our weekly email newsletter, or providing you with appropriate documentation for tax deductions.

Monthly/Recurring Donations

When making a monthly donation through our Halo Repair Crew website, we collect your name, your email address, your phone number, your mailing address, and your credit card information. This information is used solely for the purposes of processing your donation payment and supplying you with any of the optional benefits of becoming a recurring donor, such as mailing you a thank you gift, subscribing you to our weekly email newsletter or exclusive Halo Repair Crew newsletter, or providing you with appropriate documentation for tax deductions.

Email/Newsletter Subscriptions

When subscribing to one of our newsletters or email lists, we collect your name and your email address, along with optional non-identifying information in order to deliver personalized emails to you as requested.

Contests, Surveys, and Other Special Content

Periodically, we will offer contests, user surveys, or other special seasonal content that may offer you a chance to submit data to Busted Halo. Please note that while we will follow the same data protection and privacy policies outlined above, there may be additional data required to participate or utilize this content. Busted Halo will provide additional guidelines and policies as necessary to govern this content, and make any policies available for individual surveys and contests when the page, post, or content is made publicly available on our site.

Anonymous or Non-Identifying Data

In addition to personal data submitted by you on our sites, our websites use cookies to obtain non-identifying, anonymous information about the use and performance of our sites and the content therein. We use this data to analyze and improve our content and to protect our sites from malicious activity. This data may be transferred to third parties to aid in our collection of analytics and performance data. Those third parties’ privacy policies are as follows:

Other Sites and Services

Our sites contain links to services maintained by third parties that do not follow the same privacy practices as Busted Halo. In some cases, we may also include certain embedded tools provided and controlled by third parties, or that permit you to submit information to third parties. These services and tools are governed by the terms and policies of those third parties. Our digital platforms also include widgets from third-party services, e.g. a button that allows you to “like” an article on Facebook. How we secure your personal data

All data submitted by you via any method on our website is stored using industry standard encryption and transmitted only through encrypted communications between your web browser and our servers. Access to any data collected on any of our sites is limited solely to Busted Halo staff members who require access to your data to respond to your inquiry or provide you with the information or service that you have requested.

Data from our web servers and other systems is backed up, encrypted, and stored securely and separately from our web servers to prevent any loss of data through malfunction or other failure. In order to fully secure and protect your data, we will not identify the location of these secure backups or method by which the backups are secured to anyone at any time.

Security methods, backup protocols, data retention policies, and other data-related services are routinely monitored and reviewed to ensure strict security and industry standard methodology. As new standards emerge and new security methods are implemented, we will continue to improve our methodology and practices to protect your data.

Do we share your personal data?

At this time, Busted Halo does not sell, rent, or otherwise share your personal information with any third party, with the following exceptions:

  • If you choose to make a one-time donation to Busted Halo, we use the payment platform WeShare (part of LPi) to process that donation. You may review WeShare’s data privacy policy here.
  • If you choose to make a monthly donation to Busted Halo or purchase a subscription to Young Adult Ministry in a Box, we are required to securely transmit your payment data to our preferred payment processor, Stripe. You may review Stripe’s data privacy policies and terms of service here.
  • If you choose to subscribe to one of our email newsletters, we are required to securely transmit your data to our email distribution system, Mailchimp. You may review Mailchimp’s data privacy policies and terms of service here.

How do you review or remove your personal data?

You have a right to know what personally identifiable data we have collected from you, to correct that data, and to request the removal of that data at any time. Please visit our data review site to request a copy of your data and/or request removal of your data from any or all of our sites.
