Stop Making Excuses

June 8, 2008. Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time. We may think at times that each of us is not good enough, or not pious enough, or not worthy enough to be truly called by God. But Jesus says to us, like he said to Matthew, “Follow me.” Stop making excuses not to follow His calls. St. Malachy’s Church, Broadway and 49th, Times Square, New York City. Thursday, June 6, 2008, 12:15pm Mass.

As Far As East From West

Friday of the Seventh Week in Ordinary Time. Although the readings at first seem like fairly bad news, Father Dave points out that in the responsorial psalm, we see that indeed “The Lord is kind and merciful.” We should remember that in terms of His kindness, His forgiveness is “as far as the East is from the West” – infinite.

Good News

Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter. Although this homily is admittedly posted a tad late (my apologies), there is never really bad timing for this sort of good news from the Lord.
