The Busted Halo Cast® is our weekly podcast that answers one question a week ranging from the simple basics of the Catholic faith to complex dilemmas of everyday life.
Mike Hayes and Father Dave Dwyer co-host every week offering their faith-filled answers to your questions. You can call-in your questions to our voicemai line at: (917) 591 8476 or email us at questionbox@bustedhalo.com
We also highlight a church to visit that other young people have found welcoming and vital as well as a preview of next week's scripture readings and an occasional guest interview.
Fr. Dave answers a question from a “Deacon to be” about a local parish encouraging those going through confirmation to not choose a new confirmation name. Church search visits the city of Brotherly Love. 6-30-10
Keeping the same name for Baptism and Confirmation is a growing trend also in the RCIA process. It is done this way to show the continuity between those two sacraments. The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us that Confirmation is a fulfillment of the gift of the Holy Spirit that is begun in us at Baptism. Therefore the name that is used is encouraged to be the same for each. I don’t know how universally that is observed, but it is nationally “encouraged” by the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.
